By dete49
Whether as a promotional tactic or just to have fun, many blogs today are running contests which reward their readers. Many people think that it is impossible to win these contests, but let me assure you that it is much easier than one would ever expect. Don't get me wrong, winning does take a little work as gifts will not rain from the sky by simply reading this post; however, with a little effort and ingenuity you can become a shoe-in on the next contest, good content is great,
Don't be in a rush to submit your entry. Rushing in with the first contest submission is the equivalent of being the student that finishes their test before everyone else. There is no benefit besides bragging rights Take the time to size up your competition. Watch how much effort they are putting forth so that you can better understand where the bar is set.
Compiling a list of all your assets can be a very valuable activity (regardless if you are in a contest or not). Determine both online and off-line assets that are at your disposal. This is particularly important if the results of the contest are up to general public voting. For example, can you get your blog readers to take action? Does a forum group owe you a favor? Here are a few assets that you might have laying around and not know:
After sizing up the competition, blow them out of the water by over delivering. Here are a few ideas:
Use video or audio
Build a brand new blog just for the competition
Show off a little association to famous people, talents, or humor
Be memorable
Blogging communities whether owned by you or not
Forums you participate in
Friends, family, and co-workers
Anyone that owes you links or social bookmarks
Whether you win or lose, it's how you played the game. Did you win by dirty means? Were you a sore loser? In either situation, how you present yourself after the contest may directly impact your chances of winning the next one. People don't forget when someone misbehaves and the internet is a much smaller place than one thinks. When the next blogging contest presents itself, remember to not just throw your hat in the ring - make some noise and have fun doing it. People read magazines and news articles and Ebooks on their computer daily (20% on a monthly basis), 85% accessed the Internet on a daily basis, and 84% read Ebooks daily on their computer.
In regards to eBooks, 95% reported they were familiar with the term electronic books; 61% had read an article on eBooks; and 58% had watched a television news report or heard a radio news report on eBooks.85% had read an eBook on their computer; 26% had read an eBook on a handheld organizer, laptop, or personal digital assistant; and 90% had purchased an eBook.
Tag your posts and media. For some conferences, the organizer will advise the attendees to use a specific tag to make it easy for readers to find posts specific to that event. For example, the recent MediaPost event in Park City Utah used an image tag of: sisutah07. Generic tags are also useful. Use these tags not only with your blog posts and Technorati, but also with photos, video and social bookmark/news submissions.
Establish a few basic blogging guidelines or simple process. Here are a few that we start with:
Create drafts of posts BEFORE the conference with notes.
After sessions posts are saved in draft form.
All posts must have images, ideally of the session panel.
All posts are associated with relevant categories and tags.
Alternate title tags with keywords are written.
Post titles start with a consistent naming convention along with a short description.
Once posts are edited, editor makes them live.Follow up on every lead. Many small business owners hate selling and they make excuses for not following up on leads when they come in. They treat it as something optional that they do when they have a "spare moment."
They think up all the reasons the sale won't go through before they even follow up. That kind of negative thinking is costing you money and opportunity. Some of my biggest deals came from following up on long shots. I teach all my clients to never assume. You won't know which lead will turn into a sale until you do the follow-up

The most prevalent mistake most bloggers make is obviously poor ad/site structure. As much as you want to make money, if your reader has to concentrate on what is and is not an ad you have failed as a human blogger. I understand integration makes some people a lot of money, but for the normal blogger - you should seriously think about minimizing the ad content and focus on the compelling content.

Paid Blogging -- Different Ways to Make Money Online
Paid blogging is becoming more and more popular. There are a few different reasons why this is the case. Make Money Quick Is It Possible? Blogging May Be Your Answer
If you're trying to make money quick, then you might feel a sense of desperation.
There are many times where not having enough money can make it feel like the walls are closing in on you. Is there a way to earn the money you need as quickly as you need it?
First of all, more people are reading blogs every single day. In fact, many people read several blogs throughout the day in order to catch up on everything from celebrity gossip to news about their hobbies. You can cash in on this fact by being a paid blogger!
You can make this happen for yourself a variety of ways. There are even some companies that will hire you to maintain their blog and keep it updated with content. You can get paid per post or per hour, depending on the arrangement you make with the company.
Another option is to maintain your own blog. You can accept paid blog post assignments where companies will pay you a fee to blog about their product or service. The first strategy you can use, is to look at each paragraph
individually, read it a few times (or if you're good, once) and
then rewrite it in your own words, this is what I do, and is the
most common method to rewriting, and works very effectively.
This isn't as lucrative as other paid blogging opportunities -- but it can still put some money in your pocket.
One of the best ways to take advantage of getting paid for blogging is to start your own blogging empire! People go on the Internet to learn information. They also research and purchase products.
Twitter is one of the greatest things to happen to internet marketing in the past decade. Sign up and begin following people who have an interest in your niche. Once you have gained a large following yourself, you can alert all of your followers to new blog posts or even older ones you think might be of interest.
